The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) course is perfect for anyone looking to undertake a fully regulated qualification which results in a full license to practice in the early years sector. The qualification will allow you to work in a nursery setting and count towards staff ratios as a fully licensed Level 3 practitioner. Through a combination of online written assignments and tasks, learners on this qualification will cover the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and how it relates to children from birth to 5 years. The qualification also covers knowledge up to 7 years of age but practical assignments are only in the age ranges 0-5 years. A placement is required to undertake this qualification and this must be in a setting which will allow you to work with children aged 0-5 years. A 350 hour placement must be completed as part of this qualification within an early years setting. This placement will be where learners undertake their workplace observations. Your Contracted Assessor will observe your practice and provide feedback on your competency. They will also undertake several standardisation activities to ensure their work is to the highest level possible. Qualification code 610/4164/6. Qualification
The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector is a knowledge and skills-based qualification. You must have a job or voluntary placement in an early years setting that cares for children from birth to 5 years to complete this course. The course is assessed by both knowledge-based written assignments and practical tasks (including work products, workplace observations and professional discussions). An induction will be held with all new students to outline what is required of you and explain the need for a Contracted Assessor and their role during the qualification.

Unit 1 – Introduction to the role of the early years educator
This unit explores the roles and responsibilities of the reflective early years educator while appreciating the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for effective engagement within one’s own role. During the delivery of this unit, students should be exposed to the significance of sustainability in practice where appropriate.
This unit focuses on the basics of an early years educator, from looking at important traits, and alignment with policies and procedures to working as part of a team and also your own professional development.
Unit 2 – Holistic child development
This unit explores holistic development and key milestones for babies and children, including the significance of experience and personal circumstance.
Within this unit, you will concentrate on all areas and aspects of development, not only during the early years but from conception and throughout pregnancy.
There are many factors that can affect babies and children’s development, this unit will also teach you about the short term and long term factors.
Unit 3 – Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
This unit explores legislation and guidance to support the increasing awareness and confidence of the early years educator to support babies, children and their families when facilitating nurturing environments for babies and children with special educational needs and disability.
This unit focuses on identifying and working with children with special educational needs and disabilities, their areas of need and how to support not only the children but their parents, carers and families too.
Unit 4 – Effective communication in an early years setting
This unit explores the significance of communication for holistic development and learning in all babies and children.
This unit will teach you all about communication development in babies and children, aswell as the factors that can affect children’s communication. You will also look into ways you can support babies and children with their communication, speech and language needs.
Unit 5 – Safeguarding and welfare requirements
This unit explores how the early years educator safeguards children, including wider aspects of child protection, reporting, and record keeping.
There are opportunities to consider sustainability and sustainable development goals 2 and 6 when exploring the welfare requirements.
Abuse comes in many forms, and here you will develop an understanding of different types of abuse, how to recognise abuse in children, and the correct procedures and steps to take in this instance.
Unit 6 – Health, wellbeing and safety
This unit explores the relationship between legislation policy and procedure with further focus on own role and responsibilities with regard to the health and safety of babies and children. Students should be mindful of energy-saving approaches to sustainability when considering health, well-being, and safety, for example, energy efficient approaches and wellbeing strategies.
Unit 7 – Promoting an effective early years curriculum
This unit explores the early years statutory framework offered through the Early Years Foundation Stage and the implications for embedding effective characteristics of teaching and learning for all children.
This unit also includes theorists and their beliefs in relation to learning and development for babies and children.
Unit 8 – Assessment of children’s learning and development
This unit explores the assessment opportunities applied by early years educators to ensure the unique needs of each baby and child are understood and valued.
Here you will learn about types of assessment and liaising with others to document and inform of the child’s progress and development. You will also learn about why assessments are important and the benefits for the child.
Unit 9 – Understanding play for holistic development and learning
This unit explores knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to plan, lead and review play experiences that support babies’ and children’s learning and development whilst fostering a positive approach to sustainability.
This unit also focuses on the perspectives of theorists and their approaches to play and development.
Play is an important part of learning and development – socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively but changes as a child ages and progresses, here you will learn how and why to adapt play to ensure that babies and children’s needs are met.
Unit 10 – Partnership working
This unit explores partnership working, including benefits and challenges and complexities of professional collaboration.
The unit covers the policies and procedures for working in partnership. You will then move on to look at relationships and how to maintain an effective and positive relationship and engagement with parents and carers as well as any professionals that may be involved with the child.

What happens if I fail an assignment?
If you fail an assignment, then please do not worry! You can resubmit your assignment as many times as needed until you pass. Each time you submit an assignment then your tutor will mark it and provide feedback, you can then make the amendments and resubmit and have the new version marked again.
How do I complete my assignments?
Once you have enrolled and accessed the campus you will see your assignment tasks and criteria of what needs to be covered in each assignment.
How long does it take to mark my work?
We have a marking timescale of 5 working days from the submission, your tutor will mark your work and provide feedback with if you need to make any amendments to enable you to pass. Please note, we do ask that learners don’t upload more than one submission at a time as this will delay the marking not just for yourself but for other learners too.
Do I have to attend or view any live/virtual lessons?
You don’t, everything is in written, text, image and diagram format. You will have access to the campus 24/7 to be able to log in and complete your work. You won’t need to view any videos or audio lessons.
What device can I/shall I use?
As you will have assignments to write and type up for submission then we would recommend using a computer or laptop for this as you will need to use a software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs to type these. You may also be able to use an iPad/tablet for this. You can use a smartphone if you wish but you may find it difficult and it would probably be easier on a larger screen/device.
