Qualification

To gain this NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading qualification you will need to submit, and pass, all of the tutor marked assignments. There are 8 assignments in the course and no need to purchase any textbooks as we provide all of the lessons and materials required to learn the syllabus. All assignments are coursework based and are in an essay/question and answer style to test your knowledge of the topics covered in each of the course sections.

Course Content

This course assesses the following units:

Unit 1: Principles of team leading (40 hours)

This unit provides learners with an understanding of leadership styles in organisations. Learners will develop knowledge of team dynamics and the techniques used to manage the work of teams. Learners will also gain an appreciation of the impact of change management and how a motivated team affects an organisation.

This unit will teach you to:

Unit 2: Understand business (40 hours)

This unit equips learners with an understanding of organisational structures and the business environment. Learners will gain knowledge in the principles of business planning and finance within an organisation, as well as business reporting, management responsibilities and accountabilities within an organisation.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand organisational structures
• Understand the business environment
• Understand the principles of business planning and finance within an organisation
• Understand business reporting within an organisation
• Understand the principles of management responsibilities and accountabilities within an organisation

Unit 3: Understand how to communicate work-related information (20 hours)

This unit equips learners with an understanding of the principles and techniques of work-related communication both verbally and in writing. Learners will also develop the knowledge of a range of documents required for different types of meetings in a business environment.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand the principles and techniques of work-related communication
• Understand how to prepare for meetings

Unit 4: Understand how to manage performance and conflict in the workplace (35 hours)

This unit enables learners to develop knowledge of team performance management through bench marking. Learners will develop knowledge of managing individual underperformance and conflict in the workplace.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand the management of team performance
• Understand the management of underperformance in the workplace
• Understand the principles of conflict management

Unit 5: Understand customers (20 hours)

This unit provides learners with an understanding of the different types of customers. Learners will understand the relationship between good customer service and customer loyalty and how this affects the organisation in terms of reputation and image.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand different types of customers
• Understand the value of customers and their loyalty

Unit 6: Principles of equality and diversity in the workplace (15 hours)

All businesses need to get the best from their employees. This means that supporting equality and diversity in a company is a necessity for all managers and leaders. Throughout this unit you will learn how to ensure every person you work with feels supported and is treated to the same standards.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand the implications of equality legislation
• Understand organisational standards and expectations for equality and diversity and context in the workplace

Unit 7: Understand how to deliver customer service and resolve problems (30 hours)

This unit covers customer service and how to resolve issues that can arise. We will look at customer service delivery as well as how service should reflect a company’s brand. Finally we will move on to look at how to resolve issues as well as gather feedback to improve service.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand customer service delivery
• Understand the relationship between customer service and a brand
• Understand the resolution of customer service problems

Unit 8: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues (15 hours)

In this unit we will cover the principles of effective team working and how various groups of people can come together within an organisation to collaborate.

This unit will teach you to:

• Understand the principles of effective team working
• Understand how to develop working relationships with other teams and departments

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.

Assessments

To pass this course learners must pass 6 units. These are completed after navigating through the corresponding lessons and writing your answers to assignment questions. Enrolment Length
